10 Reasons Why I love Travelling Solo

1. Freedom :

This goes without saying that when you travel alone, you make your own plans, following only what your heart desires. You can wake up whenever you like, decide for yourself whether you want to get that free breakfast or rather have brunch and pay a little extra for an extra sleep after a hangover. The list can go on...

2. Stress free :

Yes, travelling is stress free for me. You don't have to deal with other people's wants, needs, time or even mood. Sometimes it's easier to whine when you are around friends. When you run out of topics, there's nothing left but to share a bit of negativity. Nevertheless, when you're alone you are bound to keep that negativity for yourself and since you have no one to talk about it, it just slowly dies down.

3. Self-reflection :

This is actually the most precious thing about travelling solo. While watching that breathtaking sunset over a beer, or even just lying on the beach star gazing at night, you can't help but to contemplate about your past, your future or simply about yourself..You see a bigger picture of yourself once you are relaxed.

4. Adventure :

For some, adventure could mean experiencing those extreme sports such as bungee jumping, cliff diving, scuba diving etc. However, for me adventure is simply experiencing everything that crosses my path. Whether I'm out of breath climbing up the mountains, or even stuck in a traffic before reaching my destination, or getting lost in a strange city where I feel like an alien, not speaking their language and looking different.

5. Meeting new people :

I have to admit, I may be talkative and fun to be with my homies, but actually I can be very timid when it comes to meeting new people. This is one thing I really like to improve on. I know I am not that confident yet, but eventually I will get there. Believe me, travelling solo will force you to interact with people. Along the way you will meet people just as timid as you are and just as you are they want to evolve too.

6. New experience :

I always make it to a point to experience something new wherever I go. Honestly, I am such a wimp. I'm scared of a lot of things, even animals scare me sometimes. A dog was running after me, a carabao was ready to attack me..yah, those kinds of new experiences I had in my past travel. Luckily I'm still alive. 7. Recharging your soul :

Everyone knows traveling is good for the soul. But it's even more recharging when you travel alone. I guess because you just really have time to love and pamper yourself. You only think of yourself, no one else.
I learned that being selfish is sometimes a necessity.

8. Independence :

Just like freedom, you are free to do whatever you like leading you to be independent. I have been independent since I was 18, so this is no big deal for me. Though I really know a lot of people who still live with their parents which is actually a bit normal here in the Philippines. Anyway, I wish they could experience travelling alone to get out of their comfort zone.

9. Open-mindedness :

Traveling alone opens your heart and mind to new beliefs, opinions and ideas. Through this experience you will meet and listen to different kinds of people with different backgrounds. You grow and learn so much from the views you see, the place you stay and people you meet.

10. Appreciation :

Lastly, I find that I start to appreciate life more after traveling alone. It radiates me to change and be content of what I have and not what I don't have. I started to value myself as well as the people around me.
Solo traveling is for sure not for everyone, thus I wish you will have the courage to go out and explore yourself someday...
